Mission Statement: American Red Cross is a non-profit, volunteer-led, humanitarian organization that helps vulnerable people and communities around the world prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters, complex humanitarian emergencies, and life-threatening health conditions.

History of operations in Vietnam: The American Red Cross started its operations in Vietnam in 2000, which have included support for PWDs, avian influenza prevention, disaster preparedness, HIV/AIDS, education and child nutrition projects.

Vietnam Programme Description: The American Red Cross supports the Prevention, Care and Support for PLHIVs project in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen and Son La Provinces; and the Disaster Risk Reduction project in Ha Tinh, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai Provinces. The local implementing partner of the American Red Cross is the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
